A truck colliding with a bus in Manitoba causes at least 15 deaths on a Canadian highway. According to police, a small bus carrying a group of mostly elderly people was struck by a semi-trailer truck on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of at least 15 people in the Canadian prairie province of Manitoba.

One of the most fatal road accidents in recent Canadian history is this one.

The accident took place 170 kilometers west of Winnipeg at the intersection of two major roads near the town of Carberry in southwestern Manitoba. A casino spokesperson told CBC News that the bus passengers were headed to a casino in Carberry.

The Manitoba Royal Canadian Mounted Police's Assistant Commissioner Rob Hill stated, "We've been able to establish that at least 15 people have been confirmed dead as a result of this collision." Hill is in charge of the force.

He stated that about 25 people, the majority of whom were elderly, had been on the bus.

The hospital was treating ten more people. The drivers of both vehicles were said to be alive by the police, but they did not say who might have caused the accident.

The vehicle was initially reported as a van rather than a bus in media reports. They claimed that Handi-Transit, which provides transportation for the disabled and elderly, was in charge of it.

A still image of a burned-out white minivan was shown by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. It likewise showed an image of a blue truck with a crushed one in front.

According to the Winnipeg Free Press, crumpled wheelchairs and walkers remained close to the tarps that covered the bodies at the scene.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated in a tweet that he conveyed his "deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones today, and I'm keeping the injured in my thoughts.

Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson tweeted, "My heart breaks hearing the news of the tragic accident near Carberry."

In April of 2018, a truck struck a bus carrying a junior hockey team on a rural road in Saskatchewan, killing 16 people.

In 1997, a bus carrying senior citizens plunged into a ravine in the province of Quebec, resulting in the deaths of 44 people, making it the worst traffic accident in Canadian history.
