Near the Titanic wreck, rescue teams race to locate the missing sub with two Pakistanis on board. OceanGate Expeditions' 21-foot vessel began its descent on Sunday but, according to authorities, lost contact with the surface less than two hours later.

In order to survey the remote region in the North Atlantic, the US Coast Guard claimed to have sent two planes, while the Canadian Coast Guard also sent a plane and a ship.

In any case, with no detailed sightings of the vessel or correspondence signals over the course of the day, the US Coast Watchman's Boston-based unit said in a tweet around 9:00 pm (0100 GMT on Tuesday) that its trips for the afternoon "have been finished".

The tweet said, "The Polar Prince and @Rescue106 will continue to do surface searches throughout the evening," referring, respectively, to a US Air National Guard unit and the research ship that launched the submersible.

Later, the French maritime ministry stated that the country's oceanographic institute would assist in locating the submersible by sending the Atalante, which was outfitted with a deep-sea underwater robot, to the North Atlantic.

The ministry added that the Atalante, which is currently on a mission for the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea, should arrive in the area on Wednesday around 1800 GMT. Experts from the French port of Toulon will urgently be sent to operate the robot for its dive.

According to a statement from their family, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman were also aboard. The assertion said the dad and child had arranged the excursion to visit the leftovers of the Titanic wreck.

Engro Corporation, one of Pakistan's largest conglomerates, has investments in fertilizers, vehicle manufacturing, energy, and digital technologies.

He lives in Britain with his wife and two children, as stated on the website of SETI, a research institute in California of which he is a trustee.

Engro Corporation said in a statement that all it knew was that the submersible craft lost contact. The company stated, "We humbly request that speculation and theorization be avoided as there is limited information available beyond this."

British businessman Hamish Harding, whose aviation company had posted about his expedition on social media, has been identified as another passenger.

For its dives to a maximum depth of 4,000 meters (13,100 feet), the company uses a Titan submersible.

"The clock is ticking": On its maiden voyage from England to New York in 1912, with 2,224 passengers and crew aboard, the Titanic struck an iceberg and sank. The tragedy resulted in more than 1,500 deaths.

The wreck is divided into two main pieces and is about 13,000 feet below the surface, 400 miles off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. It was discovered in 1985 and continues to attract underwater tourists and experts in the nautical field.

He stated that it could have surfaced and remained floating, "waiting to be found," if it had a communication or electrical issue.

He stated in a statement, "Another scenario is the pressure hull was compromised — a leak." Then, at that point, the visualization isn't great".

While the submersible may have survived its dive, very few vessels are capable of traveling to the Titan's possible depth.

“deeply grateful for the extensive assistance we have received from several government agencies and deep sea companies in our efforts to reestablish contact with the submersible,” OceanGate stated in its statement.
