world climate day triggers beat plastic contamination drive



 LAHORE: On Monday, the district administration and the academic community observed World Environment Day with the slogan "Beat Plastic Pollution."


Classes and strolls were coordinated to bring issues to light about the dangers of plastic contamination, which presents critical dangers to nature and human wellbeing.


PU: In collaboration with GIZ Pakistan, the Punjab University College of Earth and Environmental Sciences organized a seminar.


The vice chancellor of Punjab University, Dr. Khalid Mahmood, talked about how plastic is used a lot for convenience and how bad it is for the world.


To control plastic pollution, he emphasized the need for systematic awareness campaigns, legislation, and policymaking.


Javed Akhtar, Secretary of the Advanced Education Division, underscored the need to find elective means for work in the plastic business, which is associated with a huge number of individuals.


Additionally, he emphasized the dangers to humans, birds, and insects posed by deforestation and the growing use of plastic.


Syed Mubashir Hasan talked about the major threats posed by plastic pollution and climate change.



LCWU: Lahore School for Ladies College (LCWU) coordinated a workshop to bring issues to light about ecological issues and their answers.


VC Prof Dr. Bushra Mirza stressed the meaning of World Climate Day in persuading people and networks to make moves against environmental change.


To consistently and over time protect the environment, participants discussed the significance of taking small steps like turning off lights, conserving water, and engaging in eco-friendly behaviors.


Ruda has made plans to build a new scientific landfill and turn the garbage dump at Lakho Dair into a park. Advanced technologies are also being used by the authority to treat the River Ravi's polluted water.


In addition, Ruda has emphasized the establishment of nine forests with wetlands as a means of restoring riverine habitat and reducing environmental degradation.

UVAS: A seminar on the topic of "Beating Plastic Pollution" and an awareness walk were held by the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) to mark the occasion.


The walk was led by Prof. Dr. Nasim Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, and experts in the seminar talked about different aspects of the environment.


The models that students had created to fight plastic pollution were displayed.
